Selecting the Right Glove
There are many factors to consider when choosing the right glove for the job. Below are some tips to help you make the best choice.
- Understand what physical conditions the glove will be used in. This will determine what type of glove you will need.
- Decide on what the most important features you need for the application – grip, dexterity, length, coating, comfort, insulation.
- Research the gloves and choose a glove that meets both your physical needs and provides the most features for your budget.
- Chose the most comfortable size. The glove needs to fit properly in order for it to protect your hands. Most glove manufacturers have a sizing chart.
- If you need a high dexterity with tactile sensitivity then a thinner-gauge unsupported glove would meet your needs. A heavier-gauge unsupported glove would provide better protection and will not wear as easily. For extra comfort, choose a flock-lined glove, and a supported or cut and sewn glove will give you cut resistance.
- The finish of the glove is also a consideration. Some of the most popular finishes are rough, smooth, wrinkle, and embossed.
